FEEDING BABY SOLIDS

There are some false signs of readiness that can confuse some parents and lead them to introduce solid foods sooner than they ought to.
What do the experts say? Health experts and breastfeeding experts agree that it’s best to wait until your baby is around six months old before offering solid foods. The American Academy of Pediatrics, the World Health Organization, and many other health organizations recommend that babies be exclusively breastfed (no cereal, juice or other foods) for the first 6 months of life.
Perhaps one of the biggest and most frightening crimes against young infants by pediatricians, food marketers, and parents everywhere is the recommendation that young infants should be eating rice cereals or other grains.
Somewhere around 6 months, your baby may be showing signs of readiness for solids. But, is the pediatrician's recommendation of baby cereal as first food really the best idea?
