Evidence suggests that for babies who are born prematurely, their mother’s breast milk is the most important and effective intervention available for their nutrition. As well as helping to protect premature babies’ gut, breast milk also helps their brain, immune system, eyes and lungs. For premature babies, breast milk is associated with improved development as the baby grows up (development includes skills like walking, coordination, speech).
We all know the old mantra "Breast is Best," but we also know that not all moms can follow that advice. Fortunately, there are many very high quality and nutritionally-complete (according to FDA & USDA standards) organic baby formulas to choose from, made in the USA and Europe. We've been reviewing infant formulas for over 10 years and evaluating them against over a dozen criteria. If we made our own organic baby formula, here is what it would look like:

Our 29 members help mothers donate their extra breast milk for use by fragile infants as medicine. Our efforts ensure that the process is evidence-based and clinically sound. Together, we advocate for donor milk as a universal standard of care, regardless of the ability to pay.

The NCSA certifies people who have taken the approved course, have experience, background, and are reference-checked. We also place certified NCS's with clients on a no-fee basis.
